Quite a common saying, people don’t leave their jobs, they leave their managers. Throughout my career, I have seen people talking about their managers. Some share how their manager supported them, whereas some said they couldn’t cope up because their manager gave them hard time. I have also seen people progressing through the career ladder because of their tech skills and were given managerial responsibilities without giving any leadership training. I have been fortunate enough to have supporting managers. I feel the role of a leader/manager is to be there for their line reports and give a platform where they can be honest and transparent with their managers so the individuals can grow. So, as a manager, are you tailoring your line management responsibilities according to individuals?
